Managing Apps in the Developer Portal

App developers create, edit, and submit apps for approval using the Developer Portal. In Beginning App Development we briefly touched on how to create a draft app. In this article, we’ll go over how to perform other common app management tasks in the Developer Portal. For detailed instructions on submitting apps for approval, see Publishing Apps.

Signing in

Sign in or create a Developer Portal account at devtools.bigcommerce.com.

Note

  • DRAFT apps can only be installed on stores owned by the same email address as the developer portal account’s email address.

Creating apps

To create an app, do the following:

  1. Navigate to My Apps.
  2. Click Create an app.
  3. Give the app a name.
  4. Click Create.

Note

  • The app’s name is only visible in the developer portal.

Editing apps

Edit an app by clicking Edit App.

Note

  • After saving, edits are effective immediately in the control panel; however, edits can take up to 24 hours to appear in the Apps Marketplace.

Editing technical details

Click Edit App, then navigate to the technical tab to edit enabled features, callback URLs, and OAuth scopes.

Viewing credentials

Click View Client ID to view an app’s API credentials.
